Roadtrip 2015 Fall: Vancouver - Astoria - Bandon - Anderson - Paso Robles - Palm Desert - Morongo Valley - Sedona - Henderson - Lone Pine - Sacramento - Ashland - Newport - Astoria - Vancouver

Day 35 - Tuzigoot and Montezuma Castle

The business end of Pisa Lisa's. Psst. Bocce in Cottonwood is better. And looks nicer out back.

The World-Famous Vortexicar. It works on the same principle as a flux capacitor, only with vortex energy.

Just for the Red Rocks - Segway goes OHV.

In front, the remains of the ancient pueblo culture at Tuzigoot. Just behind, the giant tailings pile from the Cottonwood copper mines. On top of the giant tailings pile, subdivisions of the current pueblo culture, replete with McMansions.

"I just adore a penthouse view," with Green Acres in the valley.

Just below Tuzigoot, the massive settlin' ponds of the Cottonwood copper mines. They were allowed to dry out, and after that, the wind would kick up enormous clouds of toxic orange dust. They only got around to cleaning it up in 2006. Dunno what happened to all the toxic dust that blew away, probably to Kansas.

Over at Montezuma Castle the environment is far more pleasant.

The cliff dwellings of Montezuma Castle. It is believed they had some kind of teleportation device loaned to them by the ancient aliens to get up and down from there with the groceries.

If it were up to me I'd choose the sheltered and shaded canyon living every time.

Military stealth trees - today's choice is desert camo.

The limestone is so crumbly - but somehow these ancient folks made it work with very complex architectures.

They made the tower just for Rapunzel.
